James DeVries is Executive Vice President and Chief
Administrative Officer for
the Allstate Insurance Company and is a member of Allstate’s senior management
team. In this role, DeVries is responsible
for developing the company’s human resources strategy, and the full range of
tools, techniques, policies and programs to enable business leaders in
making better, metric-driven talent decisions to support organizational
Prior to joining Allstate, DeVries was senior vice
president of human resources at the Principal Financial Group from 2000 until
February 2008. Before joining the Principal Financial Group, he held senior
human resources roles with Ameritech, Quaker Oats, Leaf and Andrew Corporation.
DeVries received a Bachelor of Arts in psychology and human
resources from Trinity College, a Masters of Science in industrial relations
from Loyola University and a Masters of Business Administration from
Northwestern University, Kellogg School of Management. Jim serves as a member
of the CHRO Forums Committee.
