Branding has become an increasingly popular topic in today’s competitive business landscape.  An added emphasis has been placed on personal and professional branding, especially with the expansion of social media.  How would you describe your brand with business leaders in your organization?  Or in the Chicago HR community?  Join the Young HR Leaders Interest group as our exciting panel dives into strategies aimed at building and/or expanding your personal and professional brand.  This session is ideal for individuals who are looking to shape their career and build connections for the future.

Speakers:

Donna Panko Allen, Principal, Professional Skill Builders 

We all hold within us greater potential. Donna Panko helps us draw it out by delving into the techniques proven to improve our professional skills. Donna’s customized approach to personal and professional growth has helped thousands of people make positive changes. As a teacher, trainer, motivator, and consultant, she has developed corporate workshops and individual coaching services designed to provide employees and leaders with the tools and the self-confidence they need to master their professional lives.

In addition to serving as principal at Professional Skill Builders, Donna has served as vice-president of programs for the Chicago chapter of the Association of Image Consultants International. She has also served as a director and mentor for the Midwest Business Network..

Donna has been a featured guest on WGN radio and NBC television. She has also has been the subject of numerous print interviews, including stories in the Chicago Sun-Times, Cosmopolitan magazine, Business Week’s Frontier, and Today’s Chicago Woman. In addition, she co-authored the book, Mastering Memorable and Lasting First Impressions.

Ellen Kapoor PHR, Human Resources Business Partner, Dyson

The world’s growing supply of new technology and innovation is continuously changing – and personal and professional branding should evolve with it. Ellen Kapoor leads the Talent Acquisition function at Dyson – the premium technology company, headquartered in Chicago, Illinois. Ellen is currently developing Dyson’s talent infrastructure in order to take advantage of the increasingly important role of social media on employment brand engagement. In this session we will discuss revamped networking tactics, identify ways to leverage social media in order to enhance your professional brand, and take a look at employer branding strategies.

Ellen’s 12-year career in human resources and talent management landed her at companies such as; Hewitt, Ipsos, and McGraw-Hill. Outside of work she has been involved in presentation skill development as a local leader with Toastmasters International for the last eight years and has led walking tours of historic downtown buildings as a docent with the Chicago Architecture Foundation. Ellen earned her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and her Master’s in Human Resources and Industrial Relations from the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota.
