Sarah Carbone, Assistant Director for the Office of Student Employment, DePaul University Career Center
Sarah coordinates all student employment efforts for the Lincoln Park Campus. She advises students and provides guidance to managers on how to effectively recruit, hire and coach students as well as progressive discipline and performance management. She also acts as the Facilitator for DePaul’s EDGE (Employment Development Grant through Education) Program, a career development scholarship initiative for 1styear students. She is MBTI certified and a current member of the National Student Employment Association (NSEA).
Prior to joining DePaul, Sarah worked as a Recruiting Coordinator in Mesirow Financial’s Human Resources department for four years. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Ohio University and Master’s of Education in counseling with an emphasis in College Student Development from DePaul University.
David Sloane, Sr. Manager Talent Development, Groupon
David serves as Senior Manager of Talent Development, for Groupon, assuming this role in December 2014. Prior to this role, David held the position of Senior Manager, Human Resources Operations also at Groupon. Groupon was named Best Places to work in 2015 and Top 50 Chicago Employers and serves a wide range of merchants and subscribers all over the world.
Prior to Groupon, David was Human Resources Business Partner at BUILD Chicago, Turner/CNN in Atlanta, and Diamond Technology and Kaplan in Chicago.
Molly Bower, AVP of Employee Engagement, Businessolver
Molly leads the recruitment of employees, as well as professional and personal development programs for Businessolver. As Assistant Vice President of Employee Engagement, Molly heads up a team that is instrumental in the delivery of employee delight – a central focus for Businessolver’s culture and business. She has more than 15 years in the SaaS technology and human resource industries. Past roles include HR specialist for a leading retailer, and training and development leadership for a learning and talent management software company.
Under Molly’s leadership, Businessolver has added award-winning onboarding and training programs to scale rapidly while minimizing client impact.
Mallory Middaugh, Corporate Recruiter, Mesirow Financial
As a member of the talent acquisition team for the past two years, Mallory has partnered with the Investment Management and Global Markets divisions to run all full-cycle recruitment searches which includes sourcing, strategizing and consulting with over 10 internal businesses to recruit top industry professionals into the organization. Mallory is also in charge of overseeing the campus recruitment program and is part of an internal team launching Mesirow’s first entry-level training program in 2015. Mallory also serves on the advisory board of the Emerging Professionals committee and recently obtained her CFA Clarita’s Investment Certification.
Prior to joining the firm in 2013, Mallory has worked for 7 years in various campus recruitment, talent acquisition and administrative roles at other financial services organizations in Chicago. Mallory graduated with honors from Miami University with a dual degree in Mass Communication and Political Science.
Brad Karsh, President, Generational Guru
An accomplished public speaker and author, Brad has been featured on CNN, CNBC, and Dr. Phil, and has been quoted in The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, USA Today, and many others. Brad is also the author of three business books including the critically acclaimed "Manager 3.0: A Millennial's Guide to Rewriting the Rules of Management" (Amacom, 2013).
Prior to creating JB Training Solutions, Brad spent 15 years at advertising giant Leo Burnett in Chicago. Today,Brad conducts training and delivers keynote addresses at major companies including Google, Abbott Laboratories, ConocoPhillips, Walgreens, Dick's Sporting Goods, The Chicago Blackhawks, and The Big Ten Network, among many others. As an annual speaker for the National Society for Human Resource Management Conference, Brad has been consistently rated as a top-5 speaker since 2011 out of more than 150 speakers.
