                                  The Positives and Pitfalls of Using Independent Contractors

 
Every employer struggles with two key issues: which employees are exempt from overtime pay and whether an individual is an employee or independent contractor.  With the lasting effect of the recession and the proposed DOL changes to regulations for determining white collar exemptions, employers may consider from time to time whether to use contingent workers or independent contractors.   We have put together an exciting panel to discuss these important topics.  Our attorney will cover the proposed DOL changes, when we might expect to see the final regulations, and what should companies consider to be ready to comply?   The panel will then discuss the importance of properly classifying individuals as employees, including contingent workers, or independent contractors.
