White Collar Exemption Changes
Implementation Consideration’s and Communication Challenges
HR professionals and their employers are well aware of the DOL changes to the Salary Test for the FLSA “white collar” exemptions. This session is NOT a re-hash of the new regulations. This program will share how several organizations are preparing to address these changes to meet the December 1 compliance date.
The panel will discuss what they and other companies considered when determining how to implement the changes in their organization and any impact on the way they will do business. They will also talk about considerations and plans for communicating the impact of the changes to top management, immediate supervisors and employees affected by the new regulations.
Implementation considerations may include: identifying affected jobs/employees; how and when to implement; coordinating with payroll systems, HRIS and pay increase programs; non-exempt vs salaried non-exempt; changing policies for formerly exempt employees, i.e., 24/7 availability, use of mobile devices, laptops and plans for communication and /or training for managers and employees.
