Cultural Differences in Learning and Management Style

Learning and employee development are central to maintaining a workforce that is prepared to meet today's challenges and take advantage of the opportunities that lie ahead.  Learning styles vary from country to country and an approach that works in one region may not work in another.

Culture also affects management styles.  The employer/employee relationship and the interaction between supervisors and their reports are affected by cultural norms, expectations and communication styles.

The impact of these cultural differences are highlighted with a multi-cultural workforce, especially when working with expatriate employees and their local counterparts.

This program will explore two areas impacted by cultural differences:  Learning and management styles.  We will identify the major differences human resources professionals encounter and strategies to overcome cultural barriers that can impact the success of any enterprise.

Presenters

Rod Jones, Chief Learning Officer, Mori Seiki University

Ronald T. Hirasawa, Vice President, Robertson Lowstuter
