Join us for a dynamic panel discussion focused on the Whirlpool Corporation’s global HR practices that recently gained the company recognition by Hewitt Associates as one of the top 10 companies in North America and 15th internationally for attracting, retaining, and nurturing talent.

 

The focus of the presentation will be on what sets Whirlpool apart in the arena of global leadership. Initiatives that have contributed to their global ranking include best-in-class programs in executive coaching, world-class talent assessment criteria, and global talent acceleration programs. The discussion will feature David Binkley, SVP of Global Human Resources, Whirlpool Corporation and Michael Tobin, Ph.D., Partner, Vantage Leadership Consulting and will offer an internal HR perspective as well as an external consultant viewpoint.

 

At the end of this program, participants will be able to:

 

  1. Discuss global Leadership Development best practices
  2. Define what sets apart world class talent in a global organization such as Whirlpool
  3. Apply learned best practices to their organization

Speakers:

 

David Binkley, SVP of Global Human Resources, Whirlpool Corporation

 

David Binkley is the Senior Vice President of Global Human Resources for Whirlpool Corporation and is a member of the company’s Executive Committee.  With 2009 sales of approximately $17 billion, Whirlpool Corporation leads the $110 billion global home appliance industry.  Its appliances are manufactured in 12 countries and marketed in nearly every nation around the world.  Nearly 70 percent of the company’s 67,000 employees worldwide work outside of United States, Whirlpool Corporation markets some of the world’s most recognized appliance brands, including, Whirlpool, Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Brastemp, Consul, Bauknecht and Gladiator.

 

David has 25 years of Global Human Resources experience including Human Resources leadership assignments in the United States, Europe, Singapore and Hong Kong.

 

David holds a Bachelor of Science in Business and Human Resources Management from Michigan State University.  In addition, David attended Michigan State Graduate School of Labor Industrial Relations and INSEAD General Management Programme in Fountainbleu, France

 

 

Michael Tobin, Ph.D., Partner, Vantage Leadership Consulting

 

Michael Tobin is a Partner of Vantage Leadership Consulting, a Chicago-based firm that specializes in Strategic Talent Management. Dr. Tobin consults with organization world-wide on issues of talent selection, succession planning and acceleration of development. He has developed a methodology for assessing world class talent, and he is an expert executive coach.  He provides executive coaching around the world, especially in Europe and South America.

 

Dr. Tobin spent over 15 years as a psychotherapist before consulting to business.  He has provided executive coaching and consulting services to major organizations, including Amcor, Aon Corporation, HCSC/BlueCross BlueShield, Coca-Cola Industries, Exelon, Federal Reserve System, Motorola, Sears, and Whirlpool Corporation.

 

Dr. Tobin obtained his Bachelor's degree in Finance from The School of Management at Boston College.  He earned a Master's degree in Counseling from Syracuse University and a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Loyola University of Chicago.
