Get Approval to Attend #HRMACSUMMIT
Share |

The goal of Summit is to provide you with an educational and engaging experience full of networking, new ideas, and more. At the end of this dynamic one-day conference, you'll walk away feeling informed and inspired, but it can be a hurdle to convince your supervisor that it's worth it.

Here are some steps you can take and talking points you can use to start that conversation and get your approval to join hundreds of other HR professionals at SUMMIT 2017:

Step 1: Map Out Your Sessions
Review the list of educational breakouts, keynote sessions, and industry knowledge sessions so you can assess what gap(s) there may be at your organization. Do you have challenges surrounding leadership development or technology, for example? Plan on attending those sessions so you can return with strategies for improvement.

Step 2: Find Your Solutions Providers
Whatever your organization's needs are, there is a vendor for you at Summit. You'll be able to connect with exhibitors in the Exhibit Hall and compare how those align with your current providers when you return to the office. At worst, you'll make new connections to keep in mind down the line. At best, you could save your organization money through the solutions you discover.

Step 3: Determine Your Goals
What do you personally hope to achieve by attending Summit? Do your goals align professionally with the organization? If the alignment of goals isn't obvious to you, it won't be to your supervisor. Figure out the connection between them and focus on that!

Step 4: Bring It All Together
Using this email template, write out your preferred sessions, vendors, and goals for the day so you can attend Summit! By keeping your professional development at top of mind and presenting your case, you'll feel empowered and energized - just what you need as you approach #HRMACSUMMIT.
