HRMAC Awards

HRMAC Awards were developed to recognize and honor outstanding HR professionals and teams within our association. These annual awards represent HR professionals who go above and beyond to help their organizations and HRMAC achieve their missions. The 2020 Heart Award nominations have been extended to Friday, July 31. Submit today!

HRMAC Heart Award 

The HRMAC Heart Award will be given by HRMAC and the Membership Committee to recognize an individual that, through their actions, has demonstrated a strong belief in the mission and vision of HRMAC. This individual is a champion of Human Resources and may be a volunteer, board member, or simply a very supportive member! This award recognizes that this individual has made such an impact on the HRMAC Community that their love for HRMAC has permeated the hearts of others.

2019 Recipient

Steve Merkin, SVP, RoundTable Healthcare Partners, is the recipient of the first annual HRMAC Heart Award. 

Steve Merkin has been a great friend of HRMAC for many years. He has supported HRMAC through a variety of events and has served on many committees and as a board member. During Steve's time as a board member, he participated on the membership committee and was very active at recruiting and engaging members. Steve has participated on the Future Leaders committee and also as an instructor at the Future Leaders program. In 2019, Steve was a key speaker at the Leadership Forum. He cares deeply about HRMAC and can be spotted at many HRMAC events, from Summit to the Golf Outing, to Interest Group meetings and more. Steve's passion for the profession, and for HRMAC, is evident in everything he does.

Criteria for Nominated Individual

  • The nominated individual must be a HRMAC member in good standing
  • Generally recognizes overall impact on HRMAC and is not limited to a single year
  • Demonstrates a passion for HR and HRMAC
  • Displays the highest standards of professional ethics, both at HRMAC and in the industry

Criteria & Rules for Nominator

  • Nominations will be accepted from HRMAC members and nonmembers
  • Self-nominations will NOT be considered
  • There is no limit to the number of nominations an individual may submit 
  • The review process is based on answers provided; incomplete entries may be disqualified at the sole discretion of HRMAC
  • All entries must be received by HRMAC no later than 5:00pm on specified deadline
  • HRMAC assumes no responsibility for the delivery of nomination materials
  • Nominators will be notified about the status of their nominees following final selection of winners
  • The winner must be employed by a HRMAC member company or an Individual member, at the time of presentation and is expected to attend the award ceremony at SUMMIT
  • HRMAC supports the nomination of a diverse pool of candidates for the award
  • HRMAC and the HRMAC Membership Committee are responsible for selecting the finalists and winners, and may, at its sole discretion, elect not to award a winner or finalist in a category.
  • Entries must comply with the legal terms and conditions required by HRMAC

Extraordinary Team Award 

The Extraordinary Team Award is given by HRMAC and the Membership Committee to recognize a team that has taken ordinary HR initiatives and turned them into the extraordinary. Their work makes people look up from their desk and admire their HR department. The efforts of the team make a significant impact on the business of the organization. This award recognizes that there is more than one person who champions HR, more than one person who contributes to an HR initiative and more than one person who contributes to its success!

2019 Recipient

The HRMAC Extraordinary Team Award is bestowed upon the HR Team at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science (RFU).

Consisting of Sally Madden, MBA, SPHR - Executive Director; Mary Tell, MSHRM, SPHR - Director; Yasmin Aguiar - HR Assistant; Debi Caraher - Senior Administrative Assistant; Blanca Castillo - Recruitment Manager; Melissa Haley, PHR - Benefits Administrator; and Karina Luna - Payroll Coordinator, the RFU team has worked to turn their HR department from transaction-based to mission-driven in less than three years. Through strategic and thoughtful work, the RFU team has sparked a cultural change at the University, which has been demonstrated through the way employees work with HR, across departments and with each other.

2018 Recipient

The HRMAC Extraordinary Team Award is bestowed upon the HR Team at Allstate Insurance Company.

The Extraordinary Team Awards recognizes exceptional contributions in Human Resources across 5 critical pillars:

Criteria for Nominated Team

  • The nominated team must be from a HRMAC member organization
  • Team must consist of at least two individuals, one of which is an HR practitioner. (Cross functional projects are highly encouraged.)
  • Generally recognizes a body of work, not limited to a single year
  • Demonstrates successful HR strategy to drive superior business performance in their organization
  • Displays the highest standards of professional ethics

Criteria & Rules for Nominator

  • Nominations will be accepted from HRMAC members and nonmembers
  • Self-nominations will be considered
