Winning the War for International Talent

Battling New Hire Immigration Challenges   

Join the Talent Acquisition committee as we discuss the ever-changing landscape as it applies to hiring and retaining international talent.  We will hear from recruiters and attorneys, who regularly hire immigrant talent.  

We will discuss topics ranging from changes in visa processes (and what to look out for), statistics on hiring internationally, value adds to immigration programs, and best practices in company practices.  


Dick Burke, President & CEO, Envoy

Dick is responsible for the development of the overall company strategy, marketing, sales, finance, business development and technology, while managing day-to-day operations. Prior to Envoy, Burke served as president of, where he managed its business operations, including sales, marketing, product development, production, customer service and technology. Previously, Burke served as senior vice president of administration and corporate development for Classified Ventures LLC. In this capacity, he oversaw, the company’s online real estate business. In addition, he led the company’s corporate services division, comprised of corporate technology, legal, human resources, communications, facilities and corporate development. Earlier in his career, he practiced law at Burke, Warren, MacKay & Serritella P.C. and Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP. Burke received a bachelor’s degree from the College of the Holy Cross and a juris doctor degree from Georgetown University Law Center.


Gabriella Manolache, Immigration Lead, Argonne National Lab

Ms. Manolache serves as the Immigration Lead at Argonne National Laboratory and oversees the Immigration Center of Expertise within the Human Resources division’s Talent Acquisition area.  Her responsibilities include maintaining proper work authorization for a population of over 400 visa holders, including H-1B, O-1, J-1, TN, and F-1 STEM OPT.  Ms. Manolache also devises long-term Green Card strategies with outside counsel located in Chicago and L.A.    Prior to joining Argonne, Gabriella worked as the Assistant Director of the International Center at the University of Michigan and the founding Managing Director of International Services at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center.  She is a 2005 graduate of Western Michigan University’s Thomas M. Cooley Law School and a 2002 MSU graduate of James Madison College.

Fatima Beach, Senior Vice President, Head of Global Human Resources, Applications Software Technology LLC

Fatima manages her global HR team in the U.S., Canada, India, Australia and Europe. In her 25 years as an HR executive leader and consultant, she concentrates on organizational change management, talent acquisition and retention, employee development, performance management, compliance, policy implementation and corporate culture initiatives. She is a graduate of Loyola University Chicago where she received both her Master of Science degree in Human Resources and her Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Finance. Fatima has presented at various large Oracle User Group conferences throughout the U.S. on change management and training topics. 

Preston Taylor, Lead Tech Recruiter,

Preston oversees all technology and product focused positions. In his role he leads immigration strategy and execution for Cars’ growing tech organization. Before coming to Cars, Preston spent six years heading up the technology and product recruitment as a Senior Partner and Team Lead within Lucas Group’s Information Technology division. While at the Lucas Group he worked with a number of his clients on immigration related challenges and opportunities. Preston is passionate about cutting edge recruiting technology and leveraging it to scale strategies at the companies he has worked with.

Maureen Joseph, PHR, Senior Talent Acquisition Manager, PEAK6 Investments

Maureen oversees Talent Acquisition at PEAK6 Investments, which includes the immigration strategy for experienced and campus recruiting. PEAK6 focuses a lot of their recruiting efforts on technical talent and Maureen partners closely with her HR team and immigration lawyer on immigration policies and challenges. During her tenure at PEAK6, Maureen has used her passion for recruiting to position recruiting as a strategic initiative and revamp how the firm approaches their recruiting strategy. Prior to PEAK6, Maureen spent time at Grant Thornton & Walgreens Corporate in recruiting roles focused on technology and other areas across the company. She received her Bachelors of Science in Human Resources & Marketing from Marquette University.
